I am writing this blog entry on the eve of my hernia operation. Most of you know that, for Maddie's enjoyment, I named my two hernias "Herman and Hermione" and gave them personae complete with a British and an Arkansas accent, respectively. Now it is time for them to retire for forever, hopefully. Although I am looking forward to being able to sneeze and cough without holding my crotch, and being able to lift Maddie without wondering if I should be more careful, and being able to go running again without worrying about the weird feeling down south, I am a little anxious about the surgery. The last time I had it done it went well, but it is never a trip to Disneyland when you have to go under the knife for any reason. So, I would appreciate it if you all could remember me briefly in your thoughts and prayers at 9:00 EST tomorrow.
I said yesterday that I was going to spend the day playing with Maddie, and we did just that (as much as we could anyway with all of the stuff I had to do to get ready for the surgery and the few days recovery). I said that we were going to build a snowperson, and we were successful. In spite of the fact that it was only 12 degrees outside and the snow was very powdery, we built us a snowman! And it's a BOY! Maddie named him "Jack" because (I quote) "it is a nice name and very popular!" Below you can see our creation. He is 100% natural and completely edible to the creatures who are hungry enough to venture out in 12 degree temperatures.
Good luck with your operation.

Have fun!! Jack and the rest of us non-snow people will be wishing you well. :)
